About Jim's Rosary Workshop
Hi, I’m Jim,
I believe that if a person has a nice rosary, they will be inclined to use it more often. Our Lady of the Rosary is always encouraging us to pray and the world can always use more prayers!
I started making rosaries over 30 years ago with plastic beads and metal eye pins. About 6 years ago, I came in contact with a rosary made with semiprecious gemstones, and thought, what a beautiful rosary. I can make that! So I started looking around for sources of different kinds of beads. I’ve been hooked on that type of rosary ever since. Of course, I still make plastic and glass bead rosaries. Technology has created some beautiful beads in that medium.
My designs are all unique, though the crucifix and centerpiece may be the same on many of the rosaries. The way the beads can be laid out on the rosary lends itself to many different combinations. I think many of my designs come from divine inspiration--sometimes they come to me in my sleep!
Over the course of my 30 plus years, I guess I have probably averaged making at least one rosary a day. In the beginning, I gave many of them away. Why don’t I just give my rosaries away now you ask? Well, my wife has insisted that I sell some of them to help defray the cost. Though I still make some of the less expensive plastic and glass rosaries, the semiprecious gemstone rosaries have become my favorites to work with and those beads can get costly.
A couple of years ago I branched out into Christian-themed jewelry when my wife asked me to make her for lent a purple necklace with a crucifix. Since then, I’ve had many ideas for other necklaces, bracelets, key chains and lanyards. In addition, I have since learned that many Protestants pray the Divine Mercy rosary or just use prayer beads as a worship aid. So I have created many rosaries without the corpus (body of Christ) on them.
I hope you find inspiration in my web site, whether or not you buy one of my products!
